Happy summer!

I love his smile!

Last week, we went to the zoo and Kayla got up close and personal with the cat!

The train ride that followed . . .

Tyler's first train ride made a huge impression . . .

Yes . . .that would be the "gun" my son made out of a corn cob . . .

For all you PA people . . . look what I bought at our grocery store last week! I was ecstatic!

Celebrating another potty training milestone . . . we're gettin' there, folks!

OK, so tonight we went on a bike ride. While we were out, we saw 3 hot air balloons. Bryan got the idea that we should "chase" them -- so, we went back home and all got in the van.

We went about a mile and realized they were actually coming towards our neighborhood.

The one balloon finally landed in a field about a mile away.

Puttin' it all away! The funny thing is that on our way back home, we realized that the 3rd balloon actually landed IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. Like . . . on a street about 3 blocks away from our house. Crazy. Bryan was pretty bummed we didn't see that landing. I must say, it was a good, spontaneous, un-planned family activity! (Can you tell I'm TYPE A???)

Happy July 4th!

This is not typical July 4th attire . . . we're still potty training!

To say that Joshua was EXCITED about fireworks would be the understatement of the year! We are STILL eating, breathing, sleeping fireworks!

This is my style of celebrating July 4th -- on the porch swing with my baby!

Not the most glamorous photo, but thought I should "officially" document Tyler's 3rd-ish month!

Kayla has been doing "Tot time" at the library this summer and has thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a little challenging to manage the other two at the same time (Tyler ALWAYS seems to have to eat!), but definitely worth it.

Ok -- my parent's house has NO cell phone reception -- exception for when the cell phone is in this one certain place -- hence Ryan is bending over to talk on the phone. Random funniness for the day!

Trip to St. Louis

Last week, we made a quick, 3-day trip to St. Louis for a "mini-vacation." We stayed with my grandparents and it was a treat to see them again. Kayla was just infatuated with Grandpa's treasures in his pockets -- a pocket knife and his sunglasses!

I was so happy that Grandma got a chance to hold Tyler -- he was especially "cooperative" during this stretch!

We went to the zoo in St. Louis . . . a tad bigger than the "World Famous Topeka Zoo!" I was worried the temp. was going to be too much, but the shade made it very tolerable. To be perfectly honest, I am not a huge "zoo person" we had a nice time spending several hours there.

We gave the kids the choice of riding either the train or the carousal -- and Joshua "convinced" Kayla that this was the ride of choice . . . big brothers have a way of doing that!

My "baby!" ( . . . Joshua, not the monkey . . . just for clarification!)

It was fun to see animals that we never get to see here . . . like the camel. Would you believe that THIS, yes, THIS animal was the first one Joshua wanted to see? I never realized they were so . . . um . . .not visually pleasing! We can now check it off our list . . . we have seen a camel!

A big 'ole turtle

Flamingos!

Penguin -- these were cool!

We also went to the "Magic House" -- a hand's on kids museum . . . and thanks to some great coupons, we only paid for two tickets! We spent over two hours there, and still didn't get to see everything b/c the kids were entering "meltdown zone" (aka nap time) and thought we'd spare the innocent spectators! I just realized how few pics I took -- we were took busy running from one exhibit to the next. If I get super motivated, I may snag some from Bryan's phone.

This was a three-story "Jack and the Beanstalk" leaf-thingy that the kids could climb up and down on. Kayla was game for trying it right away . . . but it took Joshua a while to warm up to the idea. By the time we left, they were both climbing the entire thing.

This electro-static ball thing was cool. Joshua's hair really didn't do much . . .

but Kayla had AWESOME hair for this!

Yes . . . I can definitely attest to the truth of this sign . . .

. . . and this sign!

We had a blast there -- and would highly recommend the place to other families with small kids. Especially with the coupons . . .I know, I'm such a geek! Have a great week everyone!

Summer Stuff

And here's our happy camper . . . just along for another ride in the car seat!

Just for giggles, I pulled up a picture of Joshua I remembered taking in his car seat . . .

I almost don't like this pic because I don't like to think that our "baby" is already in this seat . . .

The other day I caught Kayla improvising a changing table for her baby . . . the hall table!

This would be Joshua at t-ball . . .also known as "let's dog pile to see who can get the ball first."
Happy spectators at T-ball

Joshua carrying on a very intense conversation at swimming lessons. . .

Jumping off the board . . .

And this would be our worn-out little boy . . . ya think?
