Yep. . . it's got seatbelts . . . mommy's favorite feature!

It's blurry -- but I thought it was cute!

My favorite part . . . the dishwasher!

Our "fam!"

We haven't finished off the back of the island, yet.

What a beautiful sight!

Still some minor things to do, but this is the result of the "major work" on the kitchen.

Eventually, we will put a corner desk underneath the corner cabinets.

Don't you wish you were our neighbors????

Dad enjoying some ice cream dessert. The corner pieces here will serve as my "pantry" and I'm planning on putting a corner desk to put "stuff" on. I'll put more pictures up in a couple days with the "finished product" when we get it cleaned up and put back together in a semi-decent state. We spent about 12 hours a day working (3 days) to get it done!

The microhood proved to be a "special blessing." Dad declared that "templates are waste of time." Ha, ha! (translate . . . Mom will never have one!)

Making sure things are level.

Ryan and Joshua

We put up bath panel to protect the wall behind the countertop.

Saturday -- first thing in the morning, we realized that we needed to "rewire" one outlet.

Hanging the first cabinet -- major pain due to the "inset" in the corner.

Friday, February 17, 2006

As of Friday night. Everything is ready for the cabinets to be hung (wiring, etc). So -- tomorrow (Saturday) should be much more fun! Also, the island is completely done and hooked up (sink, garbage disposal, dishwasher).

Out with old yellow!

Ryan unscewing the old sink.

Dad's still trying to get the sink pulled out.

Friday -- Although on the outside doesn't look a lot different Friday night than Friday morning, there really was alot of work! Plumbing -- yuck. We had to cut and redirect the supply lines to the island.

The old S-trap -- yes, that is duck tape holding it together. And yes -- it is completely rusted out! We knew we were living on borowed time!

Maybe we should have put the plummer's putty on BEFORE attaching the garbage disposal!

Grandma and Joshua

End of the day on Thursday. Still have some supply lines to run in the basement as well as finishing up under the sink with the drains.

Dad, Mom and Ryan arrived Thursday at about 1:15 am. These are the pics that I took on Thursday. Dad drilling the first hole.

Working on anchoring the island to the floor.

Pa hard at work!

Joshua certainly didn't want to miss the action.

It's a full kitchen! The work will really start tomorrow!

Wednesday -- Lowes delivered the cabinets, countertops, and sink. We were able to fit everything in the kitchen, which is great because there's snow on the ground. We just realized that there is already a "nick" in the laminate of the island countertop. I called Lowe's and they're supposed to be getting back with me....

Tuesday -- Sears delivered the appliances -- stove, dishwasher and microhood. They also hauled away "the beast" (aka the old stove) for a fee of $15. Seems to me that it was worth every penny!

Wow . . . doesn't that look fun!

One proud homeowner!

Monday, February 13th Well . . here it goes. Picture #1 of our Kitchen Remodel Project. I moved everything into the dining room that was in the ktichen so we have enough work space.

Just getting started! The goal for tonight was just to get the wall cabinet down and "psudo" island out of the middle.

This may not seem significant, but one of my favorite fast food places to eat in KS is Sonic. However, we had NEVER seen a Sonic in the State of PA -- that is, until about a week ago. They're building a Sonic about 10 miles from us. And . . . Joshua's pediatrician has an office in Schaum's Corner -- hmmm -- how convenient!

Joshua and Daddy

On Saturday night, we ate at Applebees -- but it was very significant in that I had "encouraged" -- ok, maybe it was a bribe -- that when Bryan finished his LAST paper for his Masters degree -- we could use a gift certificate to eat out. So -- he finished on Saturday afternoon and we went out that night. Joshua was pretty enthralled wtih the balloon!
