Joshua's first "waiter" experience

Joshua's baseball team had a fundraiser at Pizza Ranch tonight -- so there were a lot of 9 and 10 year old boys clearing plates, wiping down tables, getting refills, etc.  It was great to see them working together!

Joshua in action!

I like this look . . . maybe we should adopt this at home too!!!!

Happy 8th Birthday Kayla!

Exciting times at the Nelson household!  This is Kayla on Saturday . . . picking out which earrings she wanted for her pierced ears!!!!  She had been saying all year that for her birthday she wanted her ears pierced -- and she never changed her mind!

Here's the before . . .

. . . and here's the after!  She was a trooper!  The place we went to did both ears at the same time -- which was GREAT!  It also helped that the girl right before her did AWESOME,
so Kayla just followed suit!

We had a little "Frozen-themed" party at the house for a few school friends.  The crafty part of the part was decorating mugs with markers -- and I TOTALLY forgot to get any pictures -- ARGH!

Mama's best attempt at a "Frozen" palace!

Trying to stack Kristoff's ice blocks:)

Adding marshmallows into the mug . . . without using hands!

We were minus a friend . . . she was at home with a 101 degree fever and pneumonia:(
It was a fun group of girls!

Yep - there are 8 candles!

"Do you wanna build a snowman?"  Why sure!

This morning we had Kayla open some gifts before school since we knew the afternoon and evening would be full.  It's always a treat getting a package in the mail from Wisconsin!

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Nelson!  We're trying something new this year -- since Joshua's birthday is in 3 weeks, we're going to have a combined KS family party next week for both J and K -- it will result in an extended birthday celebration for both of them!

Trick or Treat!

Batman, a Baseball player, and a Teacher!

Let's just say this whole Trick or Treating thing is much easier than it was about 5 year ago:)

Kayla -- getting ready to organize it:)

Joshua checking out his haul!

and Tyler!

Kayla wanted her picture taken with the principal and counselor on the way out of school on Friday!  We LOVE the staff at our school -- they are the best!  It was a reflective weekend at our house . . . last  Halloween (2013) was the last night we slept at our house in Topeka.  The next day, the kids went to school, the movers come, and then we said bye to the neighbors when the kids got home from school.  Don't really care to relive that day anytime soon:(  I made the comment to the kids tonight as we were doing homework...that last year, the first Monday in November was our first day of school at Warren Hills and we had boxes EVERYWHERE.  Wowza -- so glad we're settled!
