What a grin!

Not too sure about the whole flower thing!

"Joshua's First Haircut!" It was getting to be "mullet-esque" so we got out the scissors! He is 16 1/2 months old.

Joshua wasn't sure what to think about this whole operation!

Joshua was NOT wanting to hold still -- so I worked fast and didn't worry about perfectionism!

Yep -- we used tape to keep him entertained while I worked as fast as I could!

This past weekend, we drove to Indy where we met up with Mom and Dad. We lucked out and the weather was great so we spent several hours at a park. Steve and Freya joined us a little later (with Max!), we had a meal together, and then everyone split. We went east, Mom and Dad went west, and Steve and Freya went north! It's a bummer being so far from family, but we just make the best of it! We had a great couple of hours together!

Joshua was captivated by this tube-thing on the playground.

Joshua and Grandma at the restaurant before everyone split up and went their separate ways. Joshua is 16 1/2 months.

Steve and Freya also drove down and so we got to see Max -- 6 months old already! Steve was scheduled for a hair cut the next day!!!! Just kidding :)

"I think I can . . . I think I can!"

Grandpa and Joshua going down the tube slide. Joshua LOVED the slides!

Grandma and Joshua on the teeter-totter.

"I just wish I could play with the big kids!"

Go, Grandma!

Guess who?

Joshua playing with two of the neighbor boys next door -- Preston and Grant. They always have a TON of balls in the yard -- hence, Joshua LOVES playing in their yard with them! Joshua's current fascination is any kind of ball -- or anything that remotely resembles a ball!

The "first grilling" of the season!

"Daddy -- I'm ready to remodel!!!" Note -- this was NOT a posed picture -- Joshua is always into something!

OK -- we're getting to the last of the kitchen remodel pics -- I promise! Bryan installing the floor.

The finished floor.

This is where the desk will eventually go.

Doesn't look much like a little baby any more, does he?

Who knew that Joshua was into making modern art . . .or maybe he's just a little boy who has absolutely DESTROYED the mini blinds in his room! We'll have to come up with Plan B.

Looking out the kitchen windows -- beucase our neighbors have a bird feeder, Joshua gets to see lots of squirrels and birds when we eat!

Other views . . .

The latest of the kitchen remodel project . . . Bryan painted it yesterday (just the walls, not the trim/windows). Last weekend, we borrowed (thank you John and Dave) a power miter (sp?) saw and air gun to to the trim on top of the cabinets.

Daddy's speciality . . .up close pictures!

Uh . . . not sure what this pose is . . .!

Joshua has NO fear of wandering around aimlessly with the blanket over his head -- silly boy!

Showin' off those teeth again! Three of the four molars have now popped through.

. . . make a tent with his blankie! . . . (wow -- what a bundle of energy!)

One of our favorite games to play . . . "101 things to do with Joshua's blankie!" . . . make a hat!

And of course, there were ducks -- which Joshua immitates by saying, "Ugh - Ugh." (I think it's his version of "Quack-quack!)

This isn't a good picture -- but we went on the swings, too. And -- the most surprising detail is that he actually tollerated his hat! (stark contrast to last spring/summer).

He also loved going down the slide -- and then he'd sit at the end and and kick his feet! Too funny!

Well, we finally had a nice spring day . . . so Joshua and I went down to the park for a while! I LOVE being so close to the park! He enjoyed playing with the sand -- next time we'll bring the rake, too!

We went to the "Hands-on-House," a children's museum. Joshua was a bit young, but kids under 2 are free . . . so why not???

Some kind of a wheel . . .

This was part of a miniature "grocery store" they had.

Yep . . Joshua enjoyed his Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies!

And "after." Bryan did all of the engineering of the stain color, and how to go about designing the cuts of the pieces.

"Before" picture of the back of the island --

and after. Who would have thought that Home Depot still carries those crazy 12x12 tiles?

Just a few more kitchen remodel pics. We had to fix where the previous cabinets had covered the ceiling tiles. Before . .

This was my "I can't believe he just did that" picture of today. I was cleaning Joshua's room, turned my head for no more than 30 seconds, and he had climbed into this toy basket ALL BY HIMSELF! (giving me his toothy grin all the while). By the way, he now has 10 teeth -- I found a molar yesterday I didn't know was there. Wonder how long that's been there....?

If Joshua had his way, he would spend ALL DAY doing exactly this . . .opening and closing the DVD tray. Not sure how we're gonna solve this one. (besides saying NO, JOSHUA, NO 100 times a day)

Uh . . . it's not supposed to be a chair, but Joshua figured out how to climb up there all on his own.

Yes . . . that's a toothbrush for Joshua! He LOVES having his teeth brushed. Who would have guessed?

A lady from church got these swim trunks for Joshua on Clearance at Old Navy. They're a little big now, but should be fine by this summer!!!!
